You know about TomTom ONE 3rd

TomTom ONE 3rd Fantastic bang for your buck!. I purchased one of these 3rd Edition units for my parents who were about to take a trip. Dad is hard of hearing and reasonably capable on the computer, so I wanted something easy to use with good volume. TomTom ONE 3rd worked like a charm and they absolutely love it. Dad can easily hear TomTom ONE 3rd while driving, so I can rest a bit easier when they're on the road. They convinced me to buy one as well. I had some specific needs as I do astronomy research and needed a GPS that would allow me to input latitude and longitude, cross roads, and two waypoints (one for the point on the paved road as a turn-off and the coordinates down the unmarked dirt road as a destination). The Tom Tom is the least expensive unit I found that fit all my needs. TomTom ONE 3rd has far more features than some units costing twice as much. It's great at finding satellites and I have yet to lose tracking while on the road. TomTom ONE 3rd usually works inside the buildings, too. The TomTom Home software is nice for updates and uploading voices and more, but actually creating updated maps is a little bothersome. I really wish the software would hook into Google Maps or other imagery so I didn't have to mark each little bend on the touch screen. That's really a minor quibble. My area has lots of new construction and I've created quite a few map updates to match the latest changes. All-in-all, this is a fantastic little unit loaded with features. I'd highly recommend it! Decent portable device. I am pleased with this device so far. It's my first adventure into GPS units. I moved to Boston and realized why GPS devices were invented, so I grabbed one quickly. I think the TomTom ONE is a good deal for the price. Having true "text-to-speech" (by which I mean having road names voiced aloud) would be the extra feature I would wish for this device. Otherwise TomTom ONE 3rd holds its own. For any Linux users, I tried the HOME software with WINE, which installs, but the device isn't recognized as anything but Mass Storage Device. So you can't use all the fun features provided by the HOME software. Tom Tom One 3rd Ed.. Very good entry level GPS Nav unit. Visual display and audio level are exellent. Battery life (2 hours) is a concern, but, has not been an issue so far. TomTom ONE 3rd would be nice to have the unit display the name of the upcoming turn street, however, this has not been much an issue, either, due to timely voice commands.Interface can be confusing at times, but, perhaps TomTom ONE 3rd only needs a little practice to master. Solid navigator for under $150.
